Led by Chairman Liu Wei, SDC delegation attended the Inauguration of the Licentiate in Safeguarding in Vatican on October 5th and 6th. Members of the delegation also include Executive Vice-Chair Teresa Chuang, Secretary-General Amy Yuan, Director Shu-Huei Hung and Director Lily Ong.
The event was held by Center for Child Protection of Pontifical Gregorian University. During the event on Oct 5th, the host presented the most recent update of the Child Dignity in the Digital World Event held last year and announced the launching of a two-year master’s degree program in safeguarding. The “Interfaith Alliance for Safer Communities: Child Dignity Online,” which would bring together the world religious leaders and provide practical actions to address the issue on child protection, was also declared to be held in Abu Dhabi in November.
The following day, evening of Oct 6th, in the Church of St. Ignatius, a stunning musical dedicated to victims of abuse was performed on stage. It told the story of how victims survived from the trauma and started their new lives again as well as how people around the victims joined hands to support them and made sure the criminals get punishment. Many of the audience were deeply touched by the story.
SDC will also continue to pay attention to issues on child protection, and will promote exchanges and cooperation between east and west on this topic.
