BJ-SDC Annual Meeting 2019

The annual meeting of Beijing International Exchange Association Sustainable Development Committee (BJ-SDC) was held at the Noble Garden in Chengdu on Jan. 16th, 2020. Committee members from Chengdu, Chongqing, Xi’an and Lijiang attended the meeing, jointly retrospecting our achievement in 2019 and looking into our main tasks in 2020.
        
Theme of this annual meeting was “2020 New Era, New Stage and New Beginning – Exploration and Practice towards Future Living Village and Hanwang 7+1 Action Plan”, which was put forward by Christopher Chuang, Honorary Chair of BJ-SDC. “In the year of 2020, BJ-SDC enters a new era and new stage”, said Christopher Chuang, “At this new beginning, we should continue our exploration and practice to the construction of Future Living Village with Hanwang 7+1 Action Plan as its model”.

Ray Liu, Chairman of BJ-SDC, initiated the meeting by summarizing our fruitful achivements during 2019. After that, Amy Yuan, Secretary-General of the commitee presented the financial report of the Committee in 2019 as well as the budget plan in 2020. In order to pay tribute to our old friends and encourage more new friends who share the same ideas to join us, the new 2020 Membership Rules was also introduced during the meeting.

Christopher Chuang, Honorary Chairman of BJ-SDC, set forth the direction and key points of the committee’s work in 2020. He emphasized that as an international exchange platform, the Committee should always put exchange at different levels as its core. Also, the ideas advocated by the Committee are not empty talks, but should be tested and carried out through specific ecological projects. In the new year, the Committee will continue to focus on promoting works in four major regions in the world – south China, the Caribbean, North Europe and East Africa. Diverse events on topics concerning sustainable development will be held in Hua Tao Eco-Community in Chengdu, China, Poundbury in the UK, Sint Maarten in the Caribbean and Kenya in East Africa, aiming to deepen cooperation in various domains under the framework of “Hanwang 7+1” Action Plan.

With the common goal to promote Future Living Village in different areas, initiators of work teams in different cities later shared their work targets in 2020. Some aimed to hold relevant international forum and unite regional resources, some would focus on inviting new friends to join the Committee and building teams, others planned to carry out more projects concerning eco-agriculture, eco-education as well as eco-life.

Christopher Chuang encouraged members to carry out practical actions with creative and comprehensive thought on the foundation of each events. He also suggested that members learn the ideas of the Committee under the structure of Hanwang “7+1” Action Plan, which would help new friends better understand the Committe.

Through the meeting, the attendes had deeper understand of the ideas and projects the Committee had been promoting, and felt we should united and accelerate the construction of Future Living Village while facing intense global evironmental, economic and ethical challenges.
