BJ-SDC members in Li Jiang, Yun Nan province held several talks on eco-community and cultural heritage on March 12th-14th, aiming at exploring possible solutions to the heritage and innovation of ethnic culture and the founding of eco-communities with regional features. BJ-SDC Honorary Chairman Christopher Chuang, Honorary Director Kins Lin joined in the talks with other SDC members and some local artists.
The first talk was held at the Simple Farm, in which BJ-SDC Honorary Chairman, Christopher Chuang shared with all the attendees about his commitment and vision of pushing forward the development of eco-communities. And the following discussions were focusing on how to establish a different eco-community with both regional features and a circular economy pattern through the cooperation with diverse ethnic culture and rich natural resources in Li Jiang.
Culture is the core Value of a eco-community. As the biggest settlement of Naxi(one of the ethnic minorities in China) people and a fertile land for Naxi culture. Conversations and discussions on March 13th gathered thoughts from both BJ-SDC members and local villagers on how to revitalize the Naxi culture and share it with the world, and how to protect our living environment? As a conclusion, Naxi-style boutique homestay and workshops on Naxi folk culture might be possible solutions at this moment.
BJ-SDC members visited a local Tibetan style boutique homestay on March 14th. Together they learned from the hotel owner about how Tibetan respect the nature and wisdom of life. Another talk on human origin and Naxi people's history in Yun Nan was held in the afternoon, in which an initiative to host an international symposium on eco-community in this October was proposed.
